Melissa M. Baxter, a partner at Kline & Specter, focuses on medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Baxter has been recognized every year from 2019-2024 by the independent survey group Super Lawyers as a Rising Star, a designation reserved for the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in a state who are 40 or younger or practicing 10 years or less.

As co-lead counsel, Baxter won a $600,000 verdict in June 2024 in Middlesex County, New Jersey, on behalf of the estate of an elderly Alzheimer's patient who died after suffering multiple fractures and a traumatic brain injury at a psychiatric hospital.

Before joining Kline & Specter, Baxter was an attorney at Rossetti DeVoto Medori & Baxter, PC, in Cherry Hill, N.J., where she was an associate from 2014 until she was named partner in 2021. Among cases she handled were those involving medical malpractice and nursing home negligence, wrongful death, claims under the survival act, construction accident claims and motor vehicle accidents. She has won numerous impressive verdicts.  

Baxter is parliamentarian with the New Jersey Association for Justice, where she has been on the Board of Governors since 2017 and for which she successfully argued an amicus brief before the New Jersey Supreme Court. She is also secretary/treasurer with the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey. She is line to become president of both prestigious organizations. Baxter also is a member of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of Pennsylvania.

Baxter earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, where she was on the cross country and track teams, and her law degree at Rutgers University School of Law.

She is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
